Starke Central is one of two solar projects currently being developed by Hoosier Solar in Starke County, Indiana, located northeast of Knox. Spanning 1,085 acres and generating 210 MW of power, Starke Central, along with the North Bend project, will contribute a combined 410 MW of solar energy. Together, these projects will provide over $1 million annually in additional tax revenue and are expected to power 53,000 nearby homes. Our $600 million investment will deliver a total economic impact of $773 million to Starke County, exceeding its 2022 GDP of $640 million.

Agrivoltaics

Advantage Renewables is working to advance Agrivoltaics, studying current crop yield conditions and how participating farmers can cultivate the land within and surrounding our solar farms to maximize the yield and profitability of their land.

Community Involvement

We have invested $58,000 to reconstruct the swine barn at the 4H Fairgrounds, providing long-term support for the agricultural community. Additionally, we established a permanent $105,000 Hoosier Solar Community Fund with the Starke County Community Foundation, which will annually provide scholarships and donations based on the Foundation board’s decisions to address the community’s greatest needs. Our commitment extends further through our participation in numerous fairs, festivals, parades, and community events.

Economic Development

A substantial amount of local labor will be used during the construction of the North Bend and Starke Central projects and as a result, businesses within the county will benefit from the increase of service and product demands. We are forecasting 10 permanent jobs across both projects with average salaries of $75k each.
